The primary purpose of performing Pind Daan is to nourish the souls of the deceased and help them attain peace or liberation (Moksha). Hindus believe that the souls of the ancestors, especially those who have not been properly honored, may experience unrest or may be in a state of Pitra Dosha (ancestral curse). Pind Daan is performed to alleviate their suffering, clear their debts, and help them move toward a peaceful afterlife. The offering is also believed to help remove ancestral karmic debts, improve family well-being, and bring blessings to the living descendants.
